Henry Higgason Mallory (about 1705-1743) was a resident of Colonial Virginia.

Early Life

Henry Higgason Mallory was the second son of Thomas Mallory and Elizabeth Higgason. He was born about 1705(1) in King and Queen County, Virginia Colony during the reign of Anne , Queen of Great Britain. King and Queen is located on Virginia's middle penninsula between the Mattaponi River on the southwest and the Rappahannock River on the northeast. In Williamsburg, construction of the Colony's Capitol Building was completed the year he was born.

Henry Higgason Mallory's siblings were also born in King and Queen County, Virginia Colony.
His elder brother, Thomas Mallory was born about 1701.
A brother, John Mallory was also born about 1705, suggesting that he and Henry were possibly twins.
A sister, Elizabeth Mallory was born about 1707.
A younger brother, Philip Mallory was born in 1715.
Two (2) other siblings, Roger Mallory and Jane Mallory died in infancy.

Henry Higgason Mallory's maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Brightwell Higgason died about 1710, the year Alexander Spotswood became acting Royal Governor of Virginia Colony.

1 August 1714 George I became King of Great Britain and Ireland upon the death of Queen Anne.

Henry Higgason Mallory's brother, John Mallory married about 1721 Anne Coyne. His elder brother, Thomas Mallory married about 1725 Lucy Richardson.

11 June 1727 George II became King of Great Britain and Ireland upon the death of King George I.

Marriage, Fatherhood and Early Death

About 1728, Henry Higgason Mallory married Sarah. Sarah's surname may have been "Holderby." One account says Henry's wife was named "Jane". They settled across the Mattaponi River in King William County, Virginia Colony. In 1734, a new church was completed in St. Johns Parish. The King's Highway, a 1,300 mile wagon road connecting Charleston, South Carolina and Boston, Massachusetts was completed there in 1735.

Henry Higgason Mallory's sister, Elizabeth Mallory married about 1730, William Dickinson. Henry Higgason Mallory's youngest brother, Phillip Mallory married about 1733 Lucinda Pynes.

Henry Higgason Mallory and Sarah had five (5) children, all born in King William County, Virginia Colony:
About 1730, his first son, Zachariah Mallory was born.
About 1732, his second son, Joel Mallory was born.
About 1734, his first daughter, Jane Mallory was born.
About 1736, his second daughter, Elizabeth Mallory was born.
About 1739, his third daughter, Sarah Mallory was born.

Some time after their children were born, Henry Higgason Mallory and Sarah relocated to Hanover County, Virginia. Hanover consisted of two parishes, St.Paul's in the east and St. Martin's Parish in the western portion which became Louisa County in 1742.

Henry Higgason Mallory was about 38 years of age when he died of unspecified causes in 1743. This was the year Thomas Jefferson was born. Some sources list his place of death as Hanover County, Virginia Colony, but this is undocumented.

"A Guide to the Records of a General Store at Fredericks Hall, Index to Ledger 1756"(4) includes his widow's name as "Mrs. Sarah Mallory". She died in Hanover County, Virginia Colony after 1756.

Decendancy

Zachariah Mallory married before 1751 Delisha "unknown" and settled in Hanover County, Virginia Colony. He died after 12 October 1773.
Joel Mallory married about 1755 Mary "unknown" and resided first in Hanover County, Virginia Colony then Goochland County, Virginia where he died after 1767.
Jane Mallory married about 1754 Griffith Dickinson. She died about 1761.
Elizabeth Mallory married about 1759 Michael Blunt(5) . She died in Spotsylvania County, Virginia in 1801.
Sarah Mallory, who never married died after 1760.
